manuscript report
-
A manuscript report is similar to a structural edit but while it identifies problems with the manuscript in the same areas – plot, pace, voice, story arcs, point-of-view, style, internal logic, consistency, themes, characters, dialogue – it does not necessarily suggest strategies to address them. This is a strategic level overview of the strengths and weaknesses of your story – essentially: what’s working and what isn’t.

what can i expect from a manuscript report
A written report outlining any broad structural problems with the manuscript – plot holes, character inconsistencies, problems with pacing or voice, consistency of POV, etc. are noted but not corrected. A marked-up manuscript is not provided.
Please note that I do not include a post-editorial read-through and/or second round of notes in my estimate. If you would like me to read and feed back on your subsequent draft, please note this in the ‘Other Comments’ field in my Contact form.
