Do you need to get your characters to Rivendell but you just can’t think of a way to get them out of Bree alive?

sounding board

  • Sometimes your narrative will stall mid-story and a structural edit is no use because you don’t have a finished book yet. Maybe you’ve written yourself into a corner or your characters have taken your plot in a direction you didn’t anticipate. In these instances, it might be useful to have another set of eyes (or ears) to bounce some ideas off.

A ‘sounding board’ assessment discusses in broad brushstrokes the elements of your story that are causing you problems, and seeks to find a way through by brainstorming possibilities.

  • what can i expect from a sounding board

Send me a one-to-two page synopsis of your story, the first three chapters of your manuscript so I can get a feel for the book (up to 7,500 words) and a brief explanation of where you’re stuck and where you want the story to end up (if known).

I will read and consider the issue/s and suggest potential solutions via email with a written report or – if you prefer – over a telephone or Zoom Call of up to one hour.

The fee for a Sounding Board consultation is $300.
